Balaji Amines starts partial production as ammonia supply improves amid West Asia conflict


Speciality chemicals maker Balaji Amines Ltd on Monday (April 27) said its plants remain in a partially non-operational phase following disruption in ammonia supply due to the ongoing geopolitical conflict in West Asia. However, production is being resumed for methylamines, ethylamines and their derivatives as supply conditions stabilise.

The company stated that following the earlier disclosure dated March 12, 2026, regarding the disruption in the supply of ammonia and the consequent impact on its manufacturing operations due to the ongoing geopolitical conflict West Asia, the plants have been placed in a partially non-operational phase.

“We wish to inform you that the global ammonia supply chain remains dynamic due to the ongoing West Asia conflict, availability has started improving, enabling us to gradually restart the production of Ammonia-based products, including Methylamines, Ethylamines, and their derivatives,” according to a stock exchange filing.

The company said it is closely monitoring the situation and is in active discussion with alternative suppliers to ensure long-term stability in raw material procurement.

Last month, Balaji Amines said some of its plants have become non-operational due to disruptions in the supply of ammonia, a key raw material, following logistics and supply chain problems linked to the ongoing war in West Asia.

The company said the conflict has significantly disrupted global shipping lines, logistics networks and supply chains. As a result, certain key suppliers of raw materials have invoked the force majeure clause.

The disruption has affected the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is used for the production of ammonia by most fertiliser manufacturers in India. Several ammonia manufacturers have expressed their inability to supply the product during this period due to force majeure conditions.

Shares of Balaji Amines Ltd ended at ₹1,310, up by ₹59.80, or 4.78%, on the BSE today, April 27.
