Bank Holidays in July 2026: Banks to remain closed for 12 Days; check complete list

As July 2026 approaches, bank customers across India may want to keep an eye on the holiday calendar before scheduling branch visits or important banking tasks. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the list of bank holidays for the month, which includes regional festivals, commemorative observances and the regular weekend closures followed by banks across the country.

Since several holidays apply only to specific states and cities, customers are advised to check the schedule relevant to their location.

While mobile banking and ATMs will be available, branch services may remain closed on notified holidays.

Regional bank holidays in July 2026

The first regional bank holiday of the month falls on July 6, when banks in Aizawl will remain closed for MHIP Day.

On July 9, banks in Shillong will observe a holiday on account of Beh Deinkhlam, a major cultural and religious festival celebrated in Meghalaya.

A larger number of cities will see bank closures on July 16 due to local festivals. Banks in Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, Imphal and Shillong will remain shut for the observance of Ratha Yatra/Kang (Rathajatra)/Harela.

On July 17, banks in Shillong will be closed to mark the Death Anniversary of U Tirot Singh.

The following day, July 18, banks in Gangtok will remain closed for Drukpa Tshe-zi, a significant Buddhist festival observed in Sikkim.

The final regional holiday listed for the month is Kharchi Puja on July 22, when banks in Agartala will remain closed.

Weekend closures across India

Apart from state-specific holidays, banks across India will remain closed on all Sundays – July 5, 12, 19 and 26.

In addition, banks will not operate on the second Saturday (July 11) and fourth Saturday (July 25), as per RBI guidelines applicable to all scheduled and non-scheduled banks.

Customers who need to visit a branch for cash-related work, document submissions, cheque clearances or other in-person services may find it useful to plan ahead. Checking the holiday list in advance can help avoid last-minute delays and ensure banking work is completed smoothly.
