According to the Reserve Bank of India‘s (RBI) holiday calendar, all scheduled and non-scheduled banks observe weekly holidays on Sundays, while the second and fourth Saturdays of every month are also designated bank holidays.
Although physical bank branches will remain closed, customers will continue to have access to internet banking, mobile banking, UPI, ATMs and other digital payment services.
Bank holiday schedule this week
Banks will next remain closed on Wednesday, July 22, in Tripura, Agartala, on the occasion of Kharchi Puja. This will be followed by the fourth Saturday holiday on July 25 and the regular Sunday closure on July 26, when bank branches across the country will remain shut.
Kharchi Puja holiday
Kharchi Puja is one of Tripura’s most significant traditional festivals. The week-long celebration is dedicated to the worship of the Chaturdasha Devata (Fourteen Deities) and Mother Earth and is observed on Shukla Ashtami in the Hindu month of Ashadha. Banks in Agartala will remain closed on July 22 in observance of the festival.
Will online banking services remain available?
While in-branch banking services will remain unavailable on notified holidays, customers can continue using digital banking facilities, including UPI, NEFT, IMPS, RTGS, mobile banking, internet banking and ATMs, to carry out important transactions. Banks may occasionally schedule maintenance activities, but customers are generally informed in advance.
No state-specific bank holidays next week
There are no state-specific bank holidays scheduled between July 27 and August 2, according to the Reserve Bank of India‘s (RBI) holiday calendar. Except for the regular weekly Sunday holiday on August 2, bank branches across the country are expected to remain open and operate as usual throughout the week.
