The banks have also highlighted digital banking options, while public sector banks and regional rural banks will remain open on Sunday, September 27, ahead of the proposed strike.
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has called for a three-day nationwide strike from September 28 to 30. The proposed strike is over demands including a five-day banking week, among other issues.
SBI ATM charges waived from September 28-30
State Bank of India has announced a three-day waiver of ATM transaction charges from September 28 to 30.
According to SBI, charges will be waived for transactions made through ATMs of any bank across the country during this period. The bank said customers can continue using ATMs, YONO, Mobile Banking, Internet Banking and WhatsApp Banking. “Banking doesn’t stop. Your needs don’t have to wait,” it wrote on X.

PNB waives ATM charges for three days
Punjab National Bank has also announced a waiver of ATM withdrawal charges from September 28 to 30.

The bank said customers can use ATMs across the country without the applicable ATM charges during the three-day period. It has also advised customers to use Mobile Banking, Internet Banking and WhatsApp Banking for their banking needs.
Bank of Baroda ATM charges waived
Bank of Baroda said ATM transaction charges will be waived from September 28 to 30. In a post on X, the bank said, “Your convenience remains our priority,” adding that the waiver will apply to transactions through ATMs of any bank across India.

Union Bank highlights ATMs and digital services
Union Bank of India said customers can continue accessing essential banking services through ATMs, digital channels and business correspondent networks during the proposed strike.
The bank said ATM charges will be waived on transactions through ATMs of any bank from September 28 to 30.

Indian Bank offers zero-charge ATM withdrawals
Indian Bank has also announced zero charges for three days, from September 28 to 30. Its announcement covers cash withdrawals from other banks’ ATMs as well as cash deposits on other banks’ ATMs, according to a LinkedIn post.
“Enjoy the freedom to transact without limits! For 3 days, experience ₹0 charges on ATM withdrawals and cash deposits across banks. Because every transaction should feel smart — #IndSmart by Indian Bank,” the bank said.
Banks to remain open on September 27
The Ministry of Finance said all Public Sector Banks and Regional Rural Banks will function normally on Sunday, September 27, ahead of the proposed strike.
The move comes after the Reserve Bank of India approved the operation of bank branches, offices, ATM-link branches and currency chests on September 27.
