The Bengal government’s Akansha housing scheme can offer you access to flats at no-profit-no-loss prices by offering government land free of cost and facilitating low-interest loans on a lottery basis.The instant project is spread over 5 acres of land and comprises 13 towers, containing 576 flats and 236 covered car parking spaces and 35 open Car parking spaces with provision for gymnasium, club-house and community hall within the complex.Classification on the basis of pay scaleThe houses so built are based on the following categories based on the grade pay of the employees:1. Elegant category for employees with grade pay of Rs. 8900/- and above. It offers a flat with built-up area of 1434 sq. feet, equipped with three bedrooms, one drawing cum dining, one kitchen, two balconies, two toilets, two water closets and one store room. It is available at the rate of Rs. 3100/- per Sq. ft.2. Premium category for employees with grade pay between Rs. 7601/- to Rs. 8899/-This includes a built-up area of 1273 sq. feet, equipped with three bedrooms, one drawing cum dining, one kitchen, two balconies, two toilets, and one water closet, available at the rate of Rs. 3100/- per Sq. ft.3. Classic category for employees with grade pay between Rs. 4801/- to Rs. 7600/-.This includes a built-up area of 924 sq. feet, equipped with two bedrooms, one drawing cum dining, one kitchen, one balcony, and two toilets, available at the rate of Rs. 3100/- per Sq. ft.4. Economy category for employees with grade pay Between Rs. 2901/- to Rs. 4800/-. The built-up area is 710 sq. feet and the accommodation consists of two bedrooms, one living cum dining, one kitchen, one balcony, one toilet and one water closet, available at the rate of Rs. 2200/- per Sq. ft.5. Standard category for employees with grade pay up to Rs. 2900/-,With a built-up area of 464 sq. feet, the house comprises one bedroom, one master room, one kitchen, one balcony, and one toilet, available at the rate of Rs. 2200/- per Sq. ft.Note: The prices may vary once the scheme is executed till its completion. Also, if the cost of a house exceeds the subsidy, the difference will be charged at no profit no loss basis and should be paid by the allottee within sixty days from the date of demand.Eligibility and application processWho is eligible?All serving state government employees, except those who have their own housing scheme such as `Pratyasha’ for policemen or similar housing schemes. Apart from this, here’s a list of categories of state government employees ineligible to apply for scheme:

  • All India service officers and employees of local bodies like panchayat, Municipalities, corporations, etc.

  • Teaching/ non-teaching staff of non-government schools & colleges/universities etc. even if those Institutions are aided or sponsored by the state government.

  • Employees of various companies/undertakings like WBPDCL, WBSEDCL, CSTC, CTC, SBSTC, NBSTC, WBTEDCL, WBHIDCO, KMDA, KIT, KMWSA etc.

  • Retired but reemployed Govt. employees and judicial service officers of the state.

What is the application process?The application needs to be submitted online but before you click on the scheme’s official website, make sure to keep the required documents handy. This includes a copy of identity card, Aadhar card, residence proof, and income certificate. Here’s the application process:

  • Visit the official website and check off each item on the list now that you’ve reviewed the team and the terms of this plan.
  • Select Apply and after you have chosen all of your terms and conditions, an application form will now appear on the screen.
  • Fill out every field and upload the scanned copies of aforementioned documents. Click Submit.
  • You must generate a challan using the internet system and deposit Rs. 25,000 in any Bank of Baroda branch as application fees.
