Birlasoft Q2 results: Profit jumps 37.5% to ₹160 crore, interim dividend recommended

Birlasoft reported a 37.5% year-on-year (YoY) increase in net profit to ₹160 crore for the second quarter of the financial year 2026-27, compared with ₹116 crore in the year-ago period.

Revenue from operations rose 6.6% YoY to ₹1,416 crore in the quarter under review, from ₹1,329 crore a year earlier.

However, operating performance remained subdued, with earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) declining 1.4% YoY to ₹190.3 crore from ₹193 crore. EBIT margin contracted to 13.4% from 14.5% in the corresponding quarter last year.

Interim dividend

The company’s board also recommended an interim dividend of ₹3 per equity share, representing 150% of the face value of ₹2 per share, for the financial year 2026-27. The dividend will be paid to shareholders within 30 days of the board’s declaration, in accordance with applicable provisions of the Companies Act, 2013.

Commenting on the quarterly performance, Angan Guha, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Birlasoft, said the company recorded an improvement in revenue performance, supported by growth across key accounts and the manufacturing, banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), and lifesciences and services (LSS) verticals. Growth was also driven by its digital and data and enterprise resource planning (ERP) service lines.

Guha added that the total contract value (TCV) of order bookings for the first half of the current financial year increased 15% year-on-year.

“Our AI and emerging tech capabilities continue to be key growth drivers for us,” he said, adding that near-term performance would reflect macroeconomic conditions and usual seasonality. The company remains focused on investing in sales and domain capabilities to drive future growth.

Chandrasekar Thyagarajan, Chief Financial Officer of Birlasoft, said revenue grew 2.7% quarter-on-quarter in rupee terms and 2.1% in dollar and constant-currency terms.

The growth was supported by the manufacturing, BFSI and lifesciences and services verticals, partly offset by weakness in the energy and utilities (E&U) vertical.

Thyagarajan said the company’s margin performance remained strong despite an organisation-wide compensation increase during the quarter and continued investments in sales and domain capabilities. EBITDA margin stood at 15.2%.

He also highlighted the company’s cash flow performance, noting that days sales outstanding (DSO) for the quarter stood at 51 days, its lowest level in two years.

Shares of Birlasoft closed 1.8% lower at ₹306.10 on the NSE. The stock has gained 13% over the past month but is down 29.1% so far this year.
