Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), the state-owned logistics and rail transportation company that handles domestic and export-import (EXIM) containerised cargo, reported a subdued performance for the September quarter, with net profit declining 6.8% year-on-year to ₹353 crore.
The company had reported a net profit of ₹379 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue from operations rose marginally by 1% to ₹2,379 crore from ₹2,355 crore a year ago.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) declined 4.5% to ₹550 crore, compared with ₹576 crore in the year-ago period. EBITDA margin contracted to 23% from 25% a year earlier.
Board declares second interim dividend
Alongside its results, CONCOR’s board declared a second interim dividend of 38%, translating to ₹1.90 per equity share of face value ₹5 each. The total payout will amount to ₹144.71 crore.
The company has fixed November 11, 2026, as the record date for determining eligible shareholders. The dividend will be paid or dispatched on or after November 20, within 30 days of its declaration.
Shares of CONCOR closed at ₹418.95 on the BSE on Tuesday, up 1.07% or ₹4.45, ahead of the earnings announcement.
Volume growth remains below FY27 guidance
The quarterly performance comes against the backdrop of subdued volume growth. Last month, the company reported that total volumes handled in Q2 FY27 increased just 0.53% year-on-year to 14.48 lakh twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), compared with 14.4 lakh TEUs in the corresponding period last year.
While overall volumes grew 0.5% in the September quarter, EXIM volumes declined 0.1%. Domestic volumes grew 2.43%.
For the first half of FY27, total volumes rose 4.5%, significantly below the company’s full-year growth guidance of 18%. EXIM volumes increased 4.6%, against a full-year guidance of 15%, while domestic volumes grew 4.2%, compared with the targeted 25% growth for FY27.
In an interaction with CNBC-TV18 on August 1, CONCOR Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Swarup had raised the company’s FY27 total volume growth guidance to 18% from 9.5% earlier. EXIM volume growth guidance was revised to 15% from 8%, while the domestic volume growth target was increased to 25% from 15%.
With first-half volume growth still well below the full-year targets, CONCOR will need a sharp pick-up in the second half to meet its FY27 guidance.
