Under the offer, users will earn 1 IndiGo BluChip for every ₹1,000 of eligible bill payments, with the reward capped at 1,000 BluChips per month.
The BluChips can be redeemed for eligible IndiGo flights and other applicable benefits under the airline’s loyalty programme.
The feature is available to SaveSage users from August 10.
The offer adds an airline loyalty reward to a category of recurring payments that generally does not carry the same rewards associated with regular credit card spending. However, the additional BluChips are linked to eligible bill payments made through SaveSage and should not be confused with rewards that a customer’s credit card may separately offer.
How the offer works
For every ₹1,000 of eligible credit card or utility bill payments made through the SaveSage app, users earn one BluChip. For example, a qualifying payment of ₹10,000 would earn 10 BluChips, subject to the programme’s terms and the monthly cap.
A user making ₹10 lakh of eligible payments in a month would not earn 10,000 BluChips because the monthly reward is capped at 1,000 BluChips.
The value of the benefit will ultimately depend on how users redeem their BluChips. Customers should also check the eligibility conditions and whether any fees apply to payments made through the platform before using the service solely to earn rewards.
What this means for credit card users
The partnership gives cardholders another way to accumulate airline loyalty points from routine financial payments. It also gives IndiGo an avenue to engage BluChip members beyond flight bookings and travel-related transactions.
For consumers, the key consideration is the effective value of the reward. A reward of one BluChip per ₹1,000 of eligible payments may be useful for customers who already use IndiGo and can redeem the points efficiently, but the benefit needs to be weighed against any applicable payment charges and the redemption value of the BluChips.
