Deepak Nitrite Q1 profit surges as margin doubles; board clears ₹2,500 crore expansion


Deepak Nitrite reported a blockbuster June quarter on Tuesday, with profit more than tripling from a year ago as robust operating performance drove a sharp improvement in margins. Alongside the earnings, the company unveiled a major capacity expansion plan, committing ₹2,500 crore towards a new Bisphenol A (BPA) manufacturing project.

For the quarter ended June 2026, the company posted a net profit of ₹345 crore, compared with ₹112.2 crore a year earlier. Revenue increased 36.4% year-on-year to ₹2,577.6 crore, while EBITDA nearly tripled to ₹540.2 crore from ₹189.4 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Operating margin expanded sharply to 20.96%, compared with 10.03% a year ago, highlighting a significant improvement in profitability.

The expansion announcement was equally noteworthy. The board of Deepak Chem Tech Ltd. (DCTL), the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, approved a project to manufacture Bisphenol A (BPA) with a capacity of up to 240 KTA. The proposal also includes the development of a greenfield manufacturing complex and related infrastructure.

The total investment for the project is estimated at around ₹2,500 crore, although the final capital outlay will be determined after detailed engineering is completed. The company said the project will be funded through an appropriate mix of debt and equity.

Bisphenol A is a key industrial chemical used in the manufacture of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins, products that find applications across automobiles, electronics, construction and consumer goods. The investment reflects Deepak Nitrite’s strategy of expanding into higher-value downstream chemicals while strengthening its manufacturing capabilities.

The company also announced a senior management appointment. The board approved the appointment of Lohit Shringi as Chief Executive Officer – Advanced Intermediates Business, effective August 4, 2026, as it looks to sharpen execution across its specialty chemicals portfolio.
