Eicher Motors Q1 profit rises 21% to ₹1,462 crore, beats estimates


Motorcycles and commercial vehicles manufacturer, Eicher Motors Ltd. reported a 21.4% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit for the June quarter, with earnings surpassing CNBC-TV18 estimates on the back of higher revenue and operating profit.

The company posted a net profit of ₹1,462 crore for the quarter ended June 30, compared with ₹1,205 crore in the corresponding period last year. The profit was higher than the CNBC-TV18 poll estimate of ₹1,390 crore.

Revenue from operations rose 31.5% year-on-year to ₹6,632 crore from ₹5,042 crore a year earlier. The topline also exceeded the CNBC-TV18 poll estimate of ₹6,402 crore.

Operating performance remained robust during the quarter. EBITDA increased 32.2% to ₹1,590 crore from ₹1,203 crore in the year-ago period, ahead of the CNBC-TV18 poll estimate of ₹1,532 crore.

The company’s EBITDA margin stood at 24% during the quarter, compared with 23.9% in the corresponding period last year. The operating margin was also marginally higher than the CNBC-TV18 poll estimate of 23.9%.

The June quarter performance reflected broad-based growth across the company’s key financial metrics, with revenue, profitability and operating earnings all registering double-digit year-on-year growth.

Shares of Eicher Motors Ltd. ended 0.5% lower at ₹7,796 apiece on the NSE on Wednesday, ahead of the company’s June quarter earnings announcement.Also Read: Vedanta Iron & Steel swings back to profit despite weaker operating performance
