EPFO 3.0 has not been launched yet, but its rollout is expected to go live very soon. Launched last year, EPFO 3.0 aims to simplify PF withdrawals, speed up claim processing and improve the overall experience for subscribers.
When will UPI and ATM withdrawals begin?
No official launch date has been announced so far. Once the platform is introduced, EPF subscribers are expected to be able to withdraw eligible PF amounts through UPI applications and EPF-linked ATM cards. Members will also be able to check their PF balance on supported UPI apps.
What will be the withdrawal limit?
EPFO has not announced a separate withdrawal limit for UPI or ATM transactions. The existing EPF withdrawal rules are expected to continue. Eligible subscribers can currently withdraw up to 75% of their PF balance, depending on the purpose of withdrawal and applicable conditions. The remaining 25% will continue to remain in the account as retirement savings.
EPFO 3.0 roll out: How will the facility work?
Under the new scheme, EPFO is likely to issue a special ATM card linked to the PF account of the account holders. Subscribers will also be able to use UPI to transfer eligible PF amounts directly to their linked bank accounts.
Who will be eligible for EPFO 3.0?
Subscribers will need an active Universal Account Number (UAN) linked with Aadhaar. They are also expected to have an updated PAN, a verified bank account with the correct IFSC code and a registered mobile number for OTP-based verification.
Key features of EPFO 3.0: UPI withdrawals, ATM access and faster claim settlements
Apart from UPI and ATM withdrawals, EPFO 3.0 is expected to introduce several other improvements. The auto-settlement limit for PF claims has already been increased from ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh, allowing more claims to be processed automatically.
The platform will also support Face Authentication Technology (FAT) through the UMANG app and enable members to update personal details and complete KYC corrections using Aadhaar-based OTP.
The Central Board of Trustees, chaired by Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, approved the rollout of EPFO 3.0 during its 238th meeting held on October 13, 2025. While the platform is expected to simplify PF services, the existing withdrawal rules, eligibility criteria and tax provisions will continue to apply until EPFO issues detailed operational guidelines.
