Food labels, claims under FSSAI scanner; firms revise products after notices | India News

NEW DELHI: Misleading claims, incorrect product descriptions, ingredient declarations and packaging material have come under the scanner of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), with several businesses taking corrective action after notices.Lotte India Corporation Pvt Ltd was flagged over “100%” claims and subsequently rectified its labels. Dabur India Ltd was pulled up for selling an Ayurvedic proprietary medicinal oil as edible oil. It informed e-commerce platforms about the product’s correct categorisation and discontinued use of “edible oil”.Ferns N Petals Pvt Ltd was flagged for using hydrogenated vegetable fat instead of cocoa butter and deficiencies in ingredient and nutritional declarations, including recommended dietary allowance and mango percentage. It subsequently revised labels of affected products, including Roasted Almond Chocolate.Eat Better Ventures Pvt Ltd was flagged over a “No Added Sugar” claim and a comparative claim involving ordinary ladoos. It removed the comparative claims and revised its advertising.
