Goodluck India shares jump 19% from day’s low — here’s what triggered the rally

Shares of Goodluck India Ltd jumped to an intraday high of ₹586.70 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday, rising 18.68% from the day’s low of ₹494.35, after the company announced an expansion of its proposed corporate restructuring plan to include its defence and aerospace subsidiary.

The company’s board, at a meeting held on October 12, accorded in-principle approval to expand the scope of the proposed amalgamation to include Goodluck Defence and Aerospace Ltd, a material subsidiary, along with Goodluck Green Energy Ltd, under Goodluck India.

The company had earlier informed the stock exchanges on July 11 that its board had granted in-principle approval for the proposed amalgamation of Goodluck Green Energy with the listed entity.

Goodluck India said the proposed consolidation is aimed at bringing group entities under a unified structure, sharpening operational focus, improving market liquidity and creating long-term value for shareholders. The detailed terms, structure and financial implications of the restructuring will be evaluated and disclosed to the stock exchanges after the board’s approval.

The proposed move comes as the company’s defence business expands its presence in the ammunition segment. In June, Goodluck India said its subsidiary Goodluck Defence and Aerospace had secured an order worth approximately ₹255 crore to supply 155 mm long-range empty shells in ready-to-fill condition. The order is to be executed within 10 months, subject to end-user inspection and the requisite approvals.

Goodluck India reported consolidated revenue of ₹1,287 crore in the first quarter of FY27, up 31% year-on-year and 18% sequentially. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) stood at ₹135 crore, with margins at 10.5%, while consolidated profit after tax rose 20% sequentially to ₹67 crore.

The defence subsidiary’s revenue increased to ₹81 crore in Q1 FY27 from ₹27 crore in the preceding quarter, with margins of around 42%. The company has also outlined plans to commission a 2.5 lakh artillery-shell capacity facility by September 2027, although the delayed commissioning could defer the expected ramp-up in its defence business.
