Sheikh was produced before the TADA court Thursday for further legal proceedings

JAMMU: Thirty-five years after an explosion rocked Jammu Tawi railway station, killing three people and leaving 18 others wounded, Govt Railway Police (GRP) Jammu Thursday claimed it arrested Altaf Hussain Sheikh, a fugitive terrorist wanted in the case.A native of Marhama, Bijbehara, in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, Sheikh went underground after the April 2, 1991, attack along with two co-accused even as their accomplice, Aman Ullah Khan, was caught that day. Charged under relevant provisions of the stringent Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosive Substances Act, and Ranbir Penal Code, Sheikh managed to evade arrest for three-and-a-half decades by concealing his identity and assuming another, a GRP spokesperson said.
