What could be the buyback size?
Transport Corporation of India’s net worth stood at ₹2,556 crore as of March 2026. Based on the company’s financial position, a buyback of up to 10% could amount to around ₹256 crore, while a 25% buyback could be worth approximately ₹641 crore.A buyback of up to 10% can be approved by the board, while a buyback of up to 25% would require shareholder approval.
The company had ₹317 crore in cash and current financial assets, providing some cash resources against which the potential buyback could be considered.
However, the size, price and other terms of the buyback have not yet been announced and will be considered by the board on September 29.
Following the company’s Q1 results, Transport Corporation of India had told CNBC-TV18 that it targets 10%–12% revenue growth in FY27.
Stock performance
Shares of Transport Corporation of India surged as much as 14.6% on Friday, to an intraday high of ₹955. The stock was trading at ₹945 up 13.4%. The returns though, remains negative year-to-date, down about 13% since January 2026 and more than 21% over the last 12 months.
Despite Friday’s rally, the stock remains around 24% below its 52-week high of ₹1,242 per share. It stands nearly 19% above its 52-week low of ₹797 apiece, recorded earlier this week.
