The country’s largest two-wheeler maker by volumes had dispatched 5,19,139 units in the domestic market in August last year.
Overall dispatches, including exports, increased 2.6% to 5,68,398 units from 5,53,727 units a year earlier.
Hero MotoCorp said retail demand remained firm heading into the festive season. VAHAN registrations, which provide an indication of retail sales, grew 19% year on year during August.
The company’s domestic internal-combustion engine (ICE) business recorded dispatches of 5,16,747 units, with VAHAN registrations for the business rising 18%.
Scooters surge, motorcycles slip
Scooters were the standout performer during the month.
Hero MotoCorp’s scooter dispatches jumped 42.8% to 74,547 units from 52,204 units in August 2025.
Motorcycle dispatches, meanwhile, declined 1.5% to 4,93,851 units from 5,01,523 units a year earlier.
VIDA, Hero MotoCorp’s electric mobility business, dispatched 25,558 units during August and recorded 38% growth in VAHAN registrations. The company also launched a 3.1 kWh fixed-battery variant of the VIDA VX2 Go during the month.
FY27 dispatches up 17%
For the April-August period, Hero MotoCorp’s total dispatches rose 17.2% to 27,79,127 units from 23,70,552 units in the corresponding period last year.
Motorcycle dispatches increased 12.5% to 24,46,671 units, while scooter volumes surged 70.9% to 3,32,456 units.
The numbers point to scooters becoming a bigger growth driver for Hero MotoCorp, even though motorcycles continue to account for the bulk of its volumes.
Exports drop in August
International dispatches fell 24.6% to 26,093 units in August from 34,588 units a year earlier. Exports accounted for about 4.6% of Hero MotoCorp’s overall volumes during the month.
The August decline hasn’t erased the gains made earlier in the fiscal year. Exports for April-August were up 19.8% at 1,63,312 units, compared with 1,36,359 units a year earlier.
Hero MotoCorp also expanded its premium motorcycle portfolio in Bangladesh during August with the launch of the XPulse 200 4V and XPulse 200 4V Pro.
Separately, the company appointed Anuj Dua as chief business officer for its premium segment, which Hero MotoCorp has identified as a key part of its growth strategy.
Hero MotoCorp shares closed 1.29% higher at ₹5,520.50 on Tuesday. The stock has gained 3.14% over the past month but is down 3.74% so far this year.
