The discovery of a handwritten note threatening to hijack an IndiGo flight with 178 passengers aboard prompted the pilots to return to Bengaluru just 30 minutes after taking off for Lucknow Saturday evening. “The piece of paper (found in the toilet of the flight) carried the message: ‘This plane is going to get hijacked exactly at 6.30. Ignore this and see the consequences.’ It was found by a passenger who alerted the cabin crew. The crew immediately conveyed the information to the pilot,” a senior police officer told TOI. After the aircraft landed in Bengaluru, security personnel conducted a thorough search of the flight that lasted around 90 minutes. The threat was subsequently declared a hoax, and the flight resumed its journey to Lucknow later at night, the officer added.
