India called for the primacy of national and territorial jurisdictions, with due respect for “State sovereignty and the principle of non-interference in internal affairs”.It also said a new convention must “complement, not duplicate, existing international legal mechanisms”, cautioning against simply transferring existing international legal regimes into the proposed framework.India further called for “broadly accepted principles of international law, stronger national capacities, and transparent and inclusive negotiations” to strengthen the international framework for preventing and punishing crimes against humanity.
