IOL Chemicals gets China NMPA approval for Clopidogrel Bisulfate API


Punjab-based IOL Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Ltd on Tuesday (July 14) said its Clopidogrel Bisulfate API has received approval from the Centre for Drug Evaluation (CDE) of the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), China.

The approval was granted on July 14, 2026, underlining the company’s regulatory clearance for the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) product in China.

“This approval is in addition to the valid Certificate of Suitability (CEP) already held by the company for Clopidogrel Bisulfate, further strengthening the Company’s regulatory portfolio and expanding its access to the Chinese pharmaceutical market,” it said.

What is Clopidogrel Bisulfate API?

Clopidogrel Bisulfate API is the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) used in the production of medicines containing clopidogrel. Clopidogrel Bisulfate is the chemical form of clopidogrel used by pharmaceutical companies for making finished dosage medicines.

Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet medication that helps prevent blood clot formation by reducing the ability of platelets in the blood to stick together. It is used in medicines prescribed to help reduce the risk of clot-related cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes.

Fourth Quarter Results

The company posted a consolidated net profit of ₹31.42 crore in the last quarter of FY25, up from ₹27.6 crore in the same period last year.

Revenue from operations grew 4.7% to ₹527.7 crore, compared to ₹503.9 crore in the year-ago quarter. The company also saw a sharp 28.5% jump in EBITDA, which rose to ₹62.6 crore from ₹48.7 crore, supported by better cost management and product mix optimisation. Operating margins improved significantly to 11.8%, up from 9.6% in Q4FY24.

The robust margin expansion suggests continued traction in the company’s pharmaceutical and specialty chemicals businesses, which form the core of its revenue streams.

Shares of IOL Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Ltd ended at ₹174.55, up by ₹4.80, or 2.83%, on the BSE.
