Becky Hammon’s squad will be looking to strengthen its position in the standings, with Las Vegas currently one game behind the third-place Golden State Valkyries.

However, the Aces received a worrying update just hours before tipoff involving their star forward A’ja Wilson.

Is A’ja Wilson injured?

Wilson was downgraded to questionable for Sunday’s game because of a back injury.

The exact moment she sustained the issue remains unclear, with the Las Vegas Review-Journal reporting that her status was changed because of the unforeseen injury.

Wilson’s participation uncertain for tonight

Her potential absence would be a significant setback for Las Vegas. If Wilson is unable to play, it would mark her first missed game since Aug. 9 and only the fourth contest she has sat out this season.

The 30-year-old has once again been at the center of the Aces’ success and remains firmly in contention for what would be her fourth WNBA MVP award.

Wilson is averaging 25.9 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.0 blocks per game this season, while shooting 51.8% from the field and 40.5% from beyond the arc.

Should Wilson be ruled out against Toronto, Las Vegas could turn to Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray for increased offensive responsibility as the Aces attempt to overcome the loss of their leading star.

Aces injury list and recent form

The Aces could also be without another player on Sunday, with Evans listed as questionable because of a left leg injury. She is now at risk of sitting out her sixth consecutive game.

Las Vegas heads into the matchup with a 25-13 record after producing a convincing home victory over the Connecticut Sun on Thursday night.

Jackie Young was instrumental in that win, finishing with 24 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while A’ja Wilson contributed 20 points, three rebounds and four assists.

Tempo also battling injury issues

Toronto, meanwhile, comes into Sunday’s contest at 11-25 after ending a 12-game losing streak with a home win over the Portland Fire on Friday.
