Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver has been dealing with the loss of his two-year-old son, Ed Oliver III, reportedly in a drowning accident. Amid media speculation, as the family tried to keep the news from the public, Bills GM Brandon Beane issued a statement offering condolences to the 28-year-old on the “unthinkable tragedy.”

The Houston Cougars alumnus has kept his relationship and family life very private. But the tragic death of his two-year-old son has brought it into focus.

According to reports, the accident took place at the Texas home of the defensive tackle late in June this year. No statement on the details of the accident has been released by Oliver’s family on the incident.
