ITI shares gain over 6% as company bags ₹856.39 crore BSNL 4G contract


Shares of state-run telecom equipment maker ITI Ltd, formerly known as Indian Telephone Industries Ltd, jumped as much as 6.17% to ₹302.05 during Thursday’s trade after the central public sector undertaking said it had secured a ₹856.39 crore work order from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) for the Phase IX expansion of the telecom operator’s 4G mobile network in West India.

According to the company, the order covers the planning, engineering, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the 4G mobile network on a turnkey basis across 7,613 sites in the West Zone.

The project is part of the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, under which BSNL is deploying indigenous 4G telecom equipment to strengthen self-reliance in the telecom sector and meet domestic market requirements.

The latest order follows the successful execution of a ₹2,640 crore turnkey project by ITI Ltd, in consortium with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), under BSNL’s Phase IX.2 rollout, stated the exchange filing. The project covered RF planning, engineering, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, integration and annual maintenance of the 4G mobile network across 23,633 sites in Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and the Mumbai Licensed Service Area (LSA).

Following the completion of the project, BSNL has now awarded ITI Ltd the contract to expand the 4G network, including DBN-funded saturation sites, covering the supply, installation and commissioning of 7,613 additional sites, with the order valued at ₹856.39 crore.

ITI Ltd is also executing BharatNet Phase III projects worth around ₹7,000 crore for BSNL across Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur, stated the exchange filing.
