JBM Auto leads India’s electric bus registrations in September with 33% share: Vahan data

JBM Auto registered 274 electric buses in September 2026, the highest among manufacturers in India, giving it a 33% share of the country’s electric bus registrations during the month, according to Vahan data cited by the company in an exchange filing.

The company registered 892 electric buses between April and September 2026, accounting for around 24% of the 3,771 electric bus registrations recorded in India during the period, JBM Auto said.

JBM Auto’s electric bus operations

JBM Auto’s electric bus business caters to public and institutional transport. The company operates an electric bus manufacturing facility in the National Capital Region with an annual production capacity of 20,000 buses.

Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of JBM Auto, said the company’s market position reflected the scale of its electric mobility operations.

“Our purpose-built born EV solutions offer innovation, efficiency, safety and a passenger-first approach,” Arya said.

JBM Auto said its electric buses have covered more than 450 million e-kilometres and carried over 2 billion passengers to date. The company estimates that its buses have helped avoid more than 1 billion kg of carbon dioxide emissions.

The company has set a net-zero emissions target for 2040, according to the filing.

JBM Auto revenue, EV business outlook

In August, JBM Auto said it was targeting revenue of ₹7,000-7,500 crore in FY27, with nearly 45% expected to come from its electric vehicle business as demand for electric buses and auto components grows.

The company also said it expected to maintain its EBITDA margin at the previous year’s level despite near-term pressure from raw material costs.

Speaking to CNBC-TV18 in August, Arya said the company expected margins to recover in the second half of FY27. He also said JBM Auto was executing an order book of more than 9,000 electric buses over the next two-and-a-half years.

Arya said the company planned to keep debt under control after reducing borrowings by around ₹500 crore in the first quarter of FY27.
