Jio Platforms IPO: How it compares with previous mega issues

At ₹30,213 crore, Jio Platforms’ IPO is larger than Hyundai Motor India’s ₹27,870 crore offering and LG Electronics India’s ₹11,605 crore issue, based on the figures provided.

The speed of subscription also distinguishes the offering from earlier large IPOs. Bajaj Housing Finance achieved full subscription at around 2 pm on its opening day, while LG Electronics India reached full subscription near the market close. Hyundai Motor India’s IPO was subscribed to around 18% by the end of its first day.

Jio Platforms’ issue crossed the full-subscription mark within 100 minutes of opening, according to the supplied information.

Unlike offerings that primarily involve existing shareholders selling shares through an offer for sale (OFS), Jio Platforms’ IPO is a fresh issue of shares. The proceeds will go to the company rather than to selling shareholders.
