The ‘The View’ co-host’s historic Sag Harbour house sold for $5.65 million on August 28, 2026, after entering the market at $10.95 million in November 2024. Realtor.com reported that Joy purchased the Sag Harbor home in 2016 for $4.75 million.The sale brought an end to a lengthy listing journey that included several reductions and one unexpected increase in the asking price. From $10.95 million to $5.65 million
Joy Behar put her Hamptons house up for sale on November 19, 2024, asking $10.95 million. The property did not stay on the market at that price for long but returned to market in March 2025 with its asking price reduced to $8.995 million. As months passed without a sale, the figure was cut several times, reaching $7.995 million in June, $6.95 million in October and $5.95 million by December 2025.In March 2026, the listing price moved upward to $6.995 million. After a lengthy sales process marked by multiple adjustments, Behar’s Hamptons home eventually sold for $5.65 million.
Why did the asking price go back up?
The unusual price increase was connected to the sale of another nearby Hamptons property.Behar’s listing agents, Ed Gaetjens and John Wines of Saunders & Associates, told Realtor.com that a neighboring home had sold for $11.25 million. They viewed that transaction as an indication of the potential value in the area and used it when reassessing Behar’s property.Wines explained the pricing journey to Realtor.com, saying, “We had started much higher, at an aspirational price, then came down to a realistic number.”The agents also explored another way of presenting the house to potential buyers. They worked with architects to prepare possible renovation plans, including estimated costs and planning permissions. No renovation was actually carried out before the sale.

The Victorian-style house dates back to 1903 and covers around 4,500 square feet. The property has four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms and sits on a 0.63-acre corner lot.The main residence includes a chef’s kitchen with two dishwashers, a large pantry and a fireplace. Other rooms include a formal dining area, living room, den and office.The primary bedroom features its own fireplace, walk-in closet and spa-style bathroom. Another bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, while two further bedrooms share another bathroom.Outside, the property includes a heated gunite swimming pool and landscaped areas that provide privacy. A separate guesthouse adds another living space, with its own kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, living room and loft.Newsday’s report also noted additional Victorian details, including five fireplaces and a wraparound porch. The property is located near other notable homes in Sag Harbor, including a residence owned by Billy Joel.
Joy Behar’s connection to the Hamptons
Behar’s association with the Hamptons goes back decades. In a 2021 interview with Hedges, she recalled first visiting the area in the 1960s, when she stayed in Hampton Bays with her sorority sisters.Her Sag Harbor property became part of that long connection with the region. Although this particular house has now been sold, Newsday reported that Behar still owns another property in Sag Harbor.After nearly two years of changing prices and renewed marketing efforts, the 1903 residence has now left Behar’s property portfolio. The $5.65 million transaction closes the chapter on a home that combined historic character, modern amenities and a lengthy journey through the luxury Hamptons market.
