The approval will allow the investment management firm to expand its research-led, long-term investment approach beyond its existing Portfolio Management Services (PMS) and Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) offerings to a wider base of investors, the company said in a statement.
Founded in 2018, Marcellus said its mutual fund platform will enable it to participate in India’s growing mutual fund industry and tap a larger pool of household savings through a regulated investment vehicle.
”We are grateful to Sebi for its confidence in us. Our focus now is on building a fund house that puts investors first, with disciplined processes, clear communication and a strong focus on execution,” Pramod Gubbi, Managing Director and CEO, Marcellus Mutual Fund, said.
Saurabh Mukherjea, Chief Investment Officer at Marcellus Investment Managers, said the mutual fund structure would allow the firm to pursue its investment philosophy ”at a much larger scale” through a transparent, regulated, and accessible format.
As of August 2026, 55 mutual fund houses managed assets worth over ₹87 lakh crore.
