Metro Brands Q2 results: Profit rises 10% to ₹76 crore, revenue up 12%

Footwear retailer Metro Brands reported a 9.8% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to ₹76 crore in the September quarter of FY27, compared with ₹69 crore a year earlier.

Revenue from operations grew 12.2% to ₹730 crore from ₹651 crore in the year-ago quarter.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 15.6% to ₹197.4 crore from ₹170.7 crore. EBITDA margin, which measures operating profitability, improved to 27% from 26%.

The company said growth during the quarter was modest as the festive calendar shifted. Festive sales that fell in September last year moved to October this year, pushing a larger share of consumer demand into the December quarter.

Metro Brands continued to spend on hiring and building its brands during the quarter. Employee costs also increased following minimum wage revisions. However, higher gross margins helped improve its profit after tax (PAT) margin.

Online and omnichannel sales grew 12% year-on-year and accounted for 14.2% of revenue, unchanged from the same quarter last year.

The company opened 21 new stores during the quarter and closed nine, taking its retail network to 1,053 stores across 223 cities and 31 states and Union Territories.

Nissan Joseph, CEO of Metro Brands, said the company delivered double-digit growth despite festive-season sales shifting to the following quarter. He added that EBITDA grew faster than revenue, reflecting the company’s focus on operational efficiency and profitability.

Metro Brands said it would continue to strengthen its brands, expand its retail network and invest in capabilities to support long-term growth as it entered the key festive season.

First-half performance

Metro Brands reported stable growth in the first half of FY27, with the shift in the festive calendar expected to move more consumer demand into the December quarter.

The company opened 34 new stores and closed 13 during the first six months of the financial year.

Online and omnichannel sales grew 11% year-on-year, contributing 13.6% of revenue, compared with 13.9% in the first half of FY26.

Profit margins were affected by continued spending on employees and brand-building, higher front-end staff costs following minimum wage revisions, increased occupancy costs from new store formats and lower treasury income compared with the year-ago period.

Metro Brands shares rose 2.72% to ₹924.80 on Thursday, gaining ₹24.45 from the previous close.
