NPCI Bharat BillPay Limited (NBBL) has onboarded NABARD Financial Services Limited (NABFINS) on Bharat Connect under the Loan Repayment category, enabling borrowers to pay equated monthly instalments (EMIs) and overdue instalments through digital and assisted payment channels.
In a statement on October 28, NBBL said the integration would provide NABFINS borrowers access to more than 1,000 banking and payment apps and over eight lakh physical agent outlets across the country.
NABFINS, a subsidiary of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), serves more than one lakh customers across 19 states. The integration is intended to expand repayment options for these borrowers, including those who may have limited access to digital payment facilities.
The onboarding was facilitated by Canara Bank, which acted as the Biller Operating Unit (BOU) for the integration.
Dr Y Haragopal, managing director of NABFINS, said the association would help the company offer digital payment options to its customers.
The Loan Repayment category on Bharat Connect now has more than 400 billers, including banks, non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) and microfinance institutions (MFIs), according to NBBL.
During the first half of FY27, the category processed more than 18.8 crore transactions worth approximately ₹1.23 lakh crore. Transaction volume grew 18% year-on-year, while transaction value increased 31%, NBBL said.
NBBL is a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and operates the Bharat Connect platform, formerly known as Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS), which facilitates interoperable bill payments and collections across participating channels.
