The brokerage expects the September rejig to be significant, with stronger-performing stocks likely replacing underperformers across the country’s most widely tracked domestic indices. The changes are expected to be announced in August 10 and become effective from September 30, 2026.

Nuvama’s analysis suggested that BSE could be included in the Nifty 50, while Wipro could be removed from the key domestic benchmark.

Nuvama said that the inclusion could trigger substantial passive fund flows into BSE. The brokerage estimates inflows of around $741 million into BSE. On the other hand, Wipro could see outflows of approximately $246 million following its exclusion from the index.

Nuvama further stated BSE appears to satisfy the requirements for inclusion under the current methodology. However, the final outcome could change if the Nifty Index Committee makes any methodology changes to the Nifty50 index before the announcement.

The brokerage said TVS Motor could emerge as a probable contender to replace Wipro if the methodology is changed.
