Agarwal will assume responsibilities with immediate effect, replacing Yogish Nayak S, the company informed the exchanges.
Agarwal, who has more than three decades of experience in finance and commercial management in the oil and gas sector, most recently served as Director (Finance) at ONGC Videsh.
During his tenure, the overseas arm mobilised over $3 billion through structured financing and established ONGC Overseas Investment Ltd. (OOIL) at GIFT City as the group’s global treasury centre.
He was also honoured with ASSOCHAM’s Best CFO Gold Award 2025 for Excellence in Finance Transformation & Innovation and the CMA Outstanding Performer Award 2024.
A Fellow Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, an Associate Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, and a Chartered Financial Analyst from ICFAI, Agarwal joined ONGC in 1990 as a Finance & Accounts Officer. Over the years, he has handled key corporate finance functions including taxation, investor relations, budgeting and project appraisal.
Separately, the ONGC board also approved the appointment of Satyan Kumar, Director (Strategy & Corporate Affairs), as a Key Managerial Personnel with immediate effect.
Shares of ONGC closed at ₹233.10 apiece on Thursday, June 25, 2.88% lower for the day.
