Orient Cement Q1 net profit plunges 62%; revenue declines 30%


Orient Cement Ltd on Thursday (July 23) reported a 62.4% year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit to ₹77 crore for the first quarter of FY27, compared with ₹205 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Revenue from operations declined 30.3% year-on-year to ₹604 crore from ₹866 crore in Q1 FY26.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) declined 20.9% to ₹144 crore from ₹182 crore during the same period. EBITDA margin improved to 23.8% from 21% in the year-ago quarter.

Separately, Orient Cement acquired a 9.04% shareholding in Vena Energy KN Wind Power Private Limited, including equity shares and cumulative convertible preference shares.

The acquisition involves the purchase of 25,665 equity shares and 9,777 cumulative convertible preference shares of Vena Energy KN Wind Power. The total cost of acquisition is ₹12.34 lakh, and the transaction will be completed through cash consideration pursuant to a shareholders’ agreement.

Vena Energy KN Wind Power is engaged in renewable energy generation and operates a 46 megawatt (MW) wind power project in Mangoli district, Karnataka.

Orient Cement said the acquisition will enable the company to offtake the contracted quantity of electricity generated from the project as a captive user under the captive consumption framework prescribed under the Electricity Act and related rules.

The transaction does not involve any related party and no governmental or regulatory approvals are required, according to the company. The acquisition is expected to be completed on or before August 31, 2026.

Vena Energy KN Wind Power was incorporated on June 18, 2014. The company reported a turnover of ₹59.85 crore for FY25, compared with ₹69.23 crore in FY24 and ₹66.28 crore in FY23.

Shares of Orient Cement Ltd ended at ₹133.85, down by ₹3.10, or 2.26%, on the BSE.
