Pankaj Tripathi has rushed to Patna after his elder brother, Vijendra Nath Tiwari, was allegedly attacked with an axe in Bihar’s Gopalganj district following a land dispute.The incident reportedly took place on Sunday evening in Belsand village under the Madhopur police station area. According to police officials, Tiwari sustained multiple injuries after being attacked with a sharp-edged weapon and was initially admitted to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital before being referred to Patna for specialised treatment.Those close to the family revealed that Pankaj has reached Patna to be by his brother’s side. “Pankaj has reached Patna to see his brother. He is in no condition to speak right now given the situation,” a person close to the family was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times, adding that while Vijayendranath suffered multiple injuries, his condition is currently stable and not life-threatening.

Brother’s condition stable after treatment in Patna

As per PTI, police said the attack stemmed from a long-standing land dispute. Additional Director General (Law and Order) Sudhanshu Kumar stated that Vijendra Nath Tiwari was attacked with an axe over a property-related conflict in the village.Investigators have arrested a neighbour, Rajesh Shah, in connection with the case. The Gopalganj Superintendent of Police’s office confirmed that a forensic team visited the crime scene and recovered the alleged weapon along with blood-stained clothes believed to belong to the accused.

Police arrest accused, recover weapon as probe continues

Speaking about the investigation, Sadar SDPO-2 Rajesh Kumar said that Tiwari was getting soil filled near his house when he was allegedly attacked from behind.“The prior dispute was regarding land. Vijendra Nath Tiwari was getting soil filled near his house when the accused attacked him from behind using an axe and a sharp-edged weapon. The victim is undergoing treatment in Patna. The matter is being investigated, and all those involved in the attack, including the main accused, will soon be put behind bars,” he was quoted as saying by IANS.Authorities have launched raids to apprehend other accused persons who are reportedly absconding. Police have assured that strict action will be taken against those found responsible as the investigation continues.
