Pennsylvania crash: State police helicopter, Cessna plane collide midair

US transportation secretary Sean Duffy said he is in touch with Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro following a mid-air collision between a Pennsylvania State Police helicopter and a small plane on Wednesday evening (local time).“Please join me in prayer for the victims and @PAStatePolice troopers. My team and I have been in touch with @GovernorShapiro and pledged to provide our full support for the NTSB’s investigation — including sending FAA inspectors to the scene. We’ll share additional updates as soon as we have them,” Duffy wrote on X.Shapiro said he is on his way to the crash site.Photos and videos shared on social media showed a helicopter lying on its side near aircraft debris in a field, while a line of emergency vehicles was seen near the crash site in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the collision involved a Pennsylvania State Police Bell 407 helicopter and a Cessna 150 aircraft.Two people were on board the police helicopter, while the number of people aboard the Cessna was not immediately known.“The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate. The NTSB will lead the investigation and provide all updates,” the agency posted on X.
