Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to release the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme on October 30, transferring more than ₹18,680 crore to over 9.34 crore farmer families across India.
Eligible beneficiaries will receive ₹2,000 directly in their bank accounts under the central government’s income support scheme.
Modi will release the instalment at a national-level ‘PM Kisan Utsav Diwas’ event in Bhildi town in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district. Gujarat Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani announced the programme on Wednesday, October 28, after reviewing preparations.
PM-Kisan 24th instalment: How much money will farmers receive?
Under the PM-Kisan scheme, eligible farmer families receive ₹6,000 a year in three instalments of ₹2,000 each. The money is transferred directly to their bank accounts through the direct benefit transfer (DBT) system.
With the 24th instalment scheduled for October 30, eligible beneficiaries can expect ₹2,000, subject to the scheme’s eligibility and verification requirements.
According to Vaghani, more than 52.33 lakh farmer families in Gujarat are expected to receive over ₹1,051 crore under the upcoming instalment.
Across India, more than ₹4.47 lakh crore has been disbursed through the previous 23 instalments. In Gujarat, beneficiaries have received more than ₹24,137 crore so far, according to the state government.
Who is eligible for the ₹2,000 PM-Kisan payment?
The scheme provides income support to eligible farmer families who own cultivable land in their names. State governments and Union Territory administrations are responsible for identifying eligible beneficiaries.
However, certain categories are excluded, including:
- Institutional landholders.
- Farmer families with members who hold or have held specified constitutional posts or public offices, including ministers, MPs, MLAs, mayors and district panchayat chairpersons.
- Serving and retired government employees, subject to specified exceptions.
- Superannuated pensioners receiving a monthly pension of ₹10,000 or more, subject to the scheme’s rules.
- Income tax payers.
- Practising professionals such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants and architects registered with professional bodies.
Farmers should check the official scheme guidelines and their beneficiary status to confirm whether they qualify for the upcoming instalment.
PM-Kisan e-KYC: What farmers should check before October 30
The government has made electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) verification mandatory for registered PM-Kisan beneficiaries.
Farmers should also check that their Aadhaar details, bank account information and land records are accurate. Completing e-KYC alone does not guarantee payment if other eligibility or verification requirements remain unmet.
If a payment is withheld pending verification, beneficiaries should check their status on the official portal and follow the instructions provided.
How to complete PM-Kisan e-KYC online
Farmers can complete e-KYC through the official PM-Kisan portal or the scheme’s mobile application. Available methods include Aadhaar-based one-time password (OTP) authentication and facial authentication, depending on the service used.
Those who cannot complete the process online can visit their nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) for assistance with biometric authentication.
Farmers should check their verification status and complete any pending formalities before the scheduled instalment release.
How to check PM-Kisan 24th instalment payment status
Beneficiaries can check their registration and payment details on the official PM-Kisan website.
- Visit the official PM-Kisan portal.
- Open ‘Know Your Status’ under the Farmers Corner section.
- Enter the required registration details and complete the verification process.
- Review the beneficiary and payment information displayed on the screen.
Farmers who do not remember their registration number can use the relevant facility on the portal to retrieve it. They should check their records for discrepancies that could affect payment processing.
The portal also provides a helpdesk facility for queries relating to registration, e-KYC and payment status.
PM-Kisan payment delayed? What should farmers do?
Farmers who do not receive the instalment should first check their payment status on the PM-Kisan portal. They should verify that e-KYC is complete, their bank details are correct and their land records meet the scheme’s requirements.
If the portal shows that verification is pending or benefits have been withheld, farmers should follow the instructions provided and contact the relevant authorities for assistance.
The reason for a delay can vary from one beneficiary to another. A delayed payment does not necessarily mean that a farmer is no longer eligible for the scheme.
PM Modi’s Gujarat visit: What else is on the agenda?
Apart from releasing the PM-Kisan instalment, Modi will inaugurate Banas Dairy’s potato-processing expansion project and an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) at its ultra-high-temperature (UHT) processing facility.
He will also lay the foundation stones for two compressed biogas (CBG) plants being established by Banas Dairy in Tharad and Radhanpur. The Tharad plant will process 75 tonnes of cattle dung daily, while the Radhanpur facility will have a capacity of 100 tonnes a day.
With these additions, the number of Bio-CNG plants under the Banas Model will rise to six, with a combined cattle dung processing capacity of 515 tonnes per day.
Modi will also inaugurate the Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre, developed at a cost of ₹328.77 crore.
The main event will be livestreamed. Gujarat has planned 34 district-level events and more than 2,100 cluster-level events. Beneficiaries will also receive approval letters for various schemes run by the state’s Agriculture and Horticulture departments.
On October 31, Modi is scheduled to attend the National Unity Day celebrations at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat’s Narmada district, marking the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
