Under PM-KISAN, eligible farmer families receive ₹6,000 every year from the government. The money is paid in three instalments of ₹2,000 each and is transferred directly into the beneficiary’s bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
The last payment, the 23rd instalment, was released on June 20, 2026. More than ₹18,880 crore was transferred to over 9.44 crore farmers during the release.
PM-KISAN eligibility
All landholding farmers’ families, which have cultivable landholding in their names, are eligible to get benefits under the scheme.
Institutional landholders, certain serving or retired government employees, people holding constitutional posts, income-tax payers and certain professionals such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants and architects are among the excluded categories.
How much money do farmers get?
An eligible farmer family gets ₹6,000 in a financial year. The amount is divided into three equal payments: ₹2,000 in the first instalment, ₹2,000 in the second instalment and ₹2,000 in the third instalment.
The money is sent directly to the registered bank account of the beneficiary through DBT.
When will the 24th instalment come?
The 23rd instalment was released on June 20, 2026. Since PM-KISAN payments generally follow a four-month cycle, the next instalment falls in the October 2026 window.
This means eligible beneficiaries can expect the 24th instalment during October, but the government has not yet announced the exact release date.
What do farmers need to receive the payment?
Completing e-KYC is mandatory for registered PM-KISAN beneficiaries. The official PM-KISAN portal currently provides OTP-based, biometric and other e-KYC options.
Farmers also need to make sure that their details, land records and bank-related information are correctly updated. Aadhaar-based authentication is used for identifying beneficiaries and processing the benefit.
How to check PM-KISAN payment status
Farmers can check their beneficiary and payment information through the ‘Know Your Status’ facility on the official PM-KISAN portal. The status check can help beneficiaries see whether their registration and payment details are in order and whether any verification-related issue has been flagged.
