PNB revises credit card charges from November 1: 5 key changes you should know

Punjab National Bank (PNB) has revised service charges applicable to its credit cards, with the new fee structure set to take effect from November 1, 2026. The changes cover reward redemption, high-value utility bill payments, cash withdrawals, late payment fees, cheque returns and duplicate statements.

The revised charges apply to eligible credit card variants, while certain cards will continue to be governed by specific provisions. PNB has clarified that the revised fees and charges are exclusive of applicable Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Here are five key changes you should know before the revised charges take effect.

1. ₹99 fee on reward redemption requests

PNB will introduce a ₹99 fee for every reward redemption request on eligible Visa and RuPay credit cards. Previously, reward redemption was free of charge.

If you regularly redeem credit card reward points, you should factor in this fee when deciding when to use your accumulated points.

2. Charges on high-value utility bill payments

PNB will introduce a charge on high-value utility bill payments made through eligible Visa and RuPay credit cards.

If total utility payments exceed ₹50,000 in a billing cycle, a fee of 1% of the total payment amount will apply, subject to a maximum of ₹2,000 per transaction.

If you use your credit card to pay electricity, water or other utility bills, check whether your payments fall within the revised fee structure.

3. Cash advance charges revised

PNB has revised charges for domestic and overseas ATM cash withdrawals on eligible Visa and RuPay credit cards.

Withdrawals at PNB ATMs will attract a fee of 2.5% of the amount withdrawn or ₹400, whichever is higher.

For withdrawals at other domestic ATMs and overseas ATMs, the charge will be 2.5% of the amount withdrawn or ₹500, whichever is higher.

Certain credit card variants may be subject to separate provisions under the revised schedule. Check the terms applicable to your card before making a cash withdrawal.

4. Late payment fees restructured

PNB has restructured late payment fees based on the outstanding amount. No fee will apply to dues of ₹500 or less. Outstanding amounts of ₹501 to ₹1,000 will attract a fee of ₹500, while dues between ₹1,001 and ₹10,000 will incur a charge of ₹750. Outstanding amounts of ₹10,001 to ₹50,000 will attract a fee of ₹1,000, while dues above ₹50,000 will incur a charge of ₹1,200.

You should track your payment due dates and clear your outstanding dues on time to avoid applicable late payment charges.

5. Cheque returns, auto-debit failures and duplicate statements

PNB will revise charges for cheque returns, electronic clearing service (ECS) failures and auto-debit dishonour on eligible Visa and RuPay credit cards. These will attract a fee of 2% of the payment amount, subject to a minimum charge of ₹400.

Credit cards issued against fixed deposits and certain other card variants will be governed by their respective provisions under the revised schedule.

The bank will also charge ₹50 for a duplicate credit card statement for any month. Electronic statements will continue to be available free of charge.

If you use auto-debit facilities, ensure your linked bank account has sufficient funds on the payment date. You can also use electronic statements to review past transactions without paying the duplicate statement fee.

Revised PNB credit card charges effective November 1

The revised fee structure will take effect on November 1, 2026. PNB has clarified that the listed fees and charges are exclusive of applicable GST.

Before the new charges take effect, review the detailed schedule and check the provisions applicable to your specific credit card variant. This will help you understand which transactions may attract additional fees.
