The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced measures allowing SEBI-registered depositories to include customer deposits in their statements, as part of its October monetary policy measures.
The move will enable the relevant customer information to be reflected in statements issued by registered depositories. The RBI said the measures will be implemented by the end of 2026, with further operational details to follow.
The announcement comes alongside the RBI’s broader policy measures aimed at improving financial market infrastructure and easing access to information for customers.
The RBI Monetary Policy Committee on Wednesday (October 7) unanimously raised the repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.50% and, by a 4:2 majority, changed its policy stance to calibrated tightening.Catch LIVE updates on RBI policy here
