REC shares fall another 4% to 52-week low, set for second straight monthly fall


Shares of state run power financier REC Ltd. declined nearly 4% to hit their fresh 52-week low on Tuesday, September 29.

The stock is trading with losses for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, having already declining 3.1% on Monday.

It has declined for 13 of the 20 trading sessions in September so far.

This will be the second straight monthly loss for REC, which has declined in five out of the nine months of 2026 so far.

A total of 14 analysts have coverage on the REC stock, with 10 “buy” recommendations and four “hold” ratings. Of them, Elara Capital has the highest target price of ₹633 per share on the stock, implying an upside potential of 108.7%, while Morgan Stanley has the lowest target price of ₹360 apiece, which indicates an upside potential of 18.7% from its previous close.

Earlier this month, REC said it had successfully completed India’s first pilot issue of tokenized corporated bonds under the market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Regulatory Sandbox Framework, raising around ₹500 crore.

It comprised a base issue of around ₹100 crore and a green shoe option of around ₹400 crore. The issue was oversubscribed nearly 8 times as it received bids of around ₹796 crore. REC accepted around ₹500 crore at a 7.3% coupon rate per annum, with a tenor of one year and nine months.

REC reported its first quarter earnings in July. Its net profit had declined 6% to 4,192.7 crore from 4,465 crore. Its net interest income (NII) was down 4% at 5,453 crore from 5,657 crore in the year-ago period.REC shares fell 3.6% to hit an intraday and fresh 52-week low of 292.2 apiece on Tuesday. The stock currently trades 2.7% lower at ₹295.15. It has fallen 9.5% in the past month and is down 20.44% in 2026, so far.
