NEW DELHI: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren’s mother, Rupi Soren, passed away at a hospital in Ranchi, an official told news agency PTI.“CM Hemant Soren’s mother Rupi Soren, who was admitted here, passed away around 8.30 pm. She was admitted to the hospital on September 18 with breathing difficulty,” Director of Hill View Hospital and Research Centre, Dr Nitesh Priya, told PTI.She was a key figure in the Soren family and had been caring for her ailing husband, veteran JMM leader Shibu Soren, who is fondly known as “Guruji”.Rupi had also been involved in politics herself. She contested the Dumka Lok Sabha election in 1999 in undivided Bihar but lost to Babulal Marandi by fewer than 5,000 votes.Hemant Soren, who visited his mother earlier on Wednesday, paid an emotional tribute on social media: “After Baba left, Maa was my greatest shelter.
