Salman Khan has reportedly agreed to a substantial reduction in his remuneration for SVC63, the upcoming action entertainer directed by Vamshi Paidipally. According to reports, the superstar will charge around Rs 70 crore instead of his usual fee of over Rs 120 crore, the decision was reportedly influenced by his long-standing friendship with producer Rafi Kazi. However, neither Salman Khan nor the makers have officially confirmed the reported fee arrangement.
Salman Khan to charge Rs 70 crore for SVC 63
Salman Khan will soon begin work on SVC 63, directed by Vamshi Paidipally and slated for an Eid 2027 release. Reports suggested that Khan is charging just Rs 70 crore for the film, a significant drop from his usual fee of over Rs 120 crore.
Friendship with Rafi Kazi behind the fee cut
An industry insider claimed the decision was influenced by Salman Khan’s bond with Rafi Kazi, who reportedly helped put the project together and will also serve as one of its producers. According to the Free Press Journal report, “Salman, whose market value stands at anything over Rs 120 crore, upwards, for each film he has done for nearly 20 years, has reportedly given this discount to the SVC 63 makers because his long-time friend, Rafi Kazi, is the mediator on the project. Rafi’s name will appear as one of the producers of the film. And it is because of the friend factor that SK has agreed to taking a big cut in his fees upfront.”The insider added that there was no information on whether Salman had negotiated a share in the film’s profits or any backend deal.
Salman Khan’s usual approach to film deals
Salman Khan has typically preferred projects where he holds a stake. Since ‘Dabangg’ (2010), most of his films have been produced either by his family or under his own banner, Salman Khan Films (SKF). ‘Dabangg’ was produced by brother Arbaaz Khan, while Bodyguard was backed by sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri.Even while working with outside producers, Salman has reportedly retained a share in film rights or opted for OTT and satellite rights instead, which have often been valued between Rs 120 crore and Rs 140 crore. He has also reportedly secured special deals with Yash Raj Films for the Tiger franchise, a privilege said to be matched only by Shah Rukh Khan.
Salman Khan is known for helping friends in the industry
Salman Khan has often supported friends by doing cameos without charging a fee, including for Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh’s ‘Raja Shivaji’. Ajay Devgn had earlier revealed that Salman refused payment for his appearance in the ‘Po Po’ song from ‘Son Of Sardaar’, simply saying, “You are a friend. I don’t charge friends money.”
Work front
On the work front, Salman Khan will next feature in ‘Maatrubhumi’, directed by Apoorva Lakhia. The makers are yet to announce the official release date. Apart from that, he is said to be in discussion with Raj & DK for a movie.
