SEBI’s Project Jagrook: What the new investor awareness drive means for you | FAQ

If you have recently seen an investor awareness message on your broker’s website, app or other digital platforms, there is a reason for it.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has launched Project Jagrook, a nationwide investor awareness campaign aimed at helping people make more informed financial decisions.

SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey, while launching the initiative on October 5, urged investors not to make investment decisions simply because someone recommended them or because others were investing.

The campaign will run across TV, print, radio, cinema, outdoor media, digital platforms, OTT and WhatsApp in English, Hindi and 11 regional languages. SEBI has said the communication will continue until March 2027.

Here is what the campaign means for investors:

Why am I seeing SEBI messages on my broker’s website or app?

SEBI has directed stock brokers to display investor awareness messages as part of Project Jagrook and World Investor Week 2026.

Under a circular dated October 1:

  • October 5-31: Brokers must display the investor awareness messages along with the prescribed risk disclosures on their websites. Displaying them on trading apps is optional during this period.
  • From November 1: The messages must be displayed on the landing page of broker websites. On trading apps, investor awareness messages and risk disclosures must be displayed on alternate days.

SEBI may also modify the messages from time to time.

What is Project Jagrook?

Project Jagrook is SEBI’s investor awareness initiative aimed at improving financial awareness and encouraging investors to make decisions based on their own understanding rather than unverified recommendations, anonymous sources or promises of unusually high returns.
