Nagma, one of the most recognisable faces of 90s Hindi cinema, made a rare public appearance on Wednesday at a press conference organised by the Cine And TV Artistes Association (CINTAA). The actress, who has largely stayed away from the limelight in recent years, soon became a talking point after videos from the event surfaced on social media.Nagma’s appearance came as a surprise to many who remembered her from her peak years in the film industry. Some social media users said they were taken aback by the change in her appearance, with a few admitting they initially struggled to recognise the actress. However, several fans also pushed back against the body-shaming comments and reminded others that changing physically with age is completely natural.One netizen commented on the video, “Omg she put on so much weight but still beautiful miss old movies loved watching her.” Another Instagram user wrote, “Ye Naghma hai????”Addressing the tendency to compare celebrities with their younger selves, another user wrote, “Why people always compare. With age everything changes and it’s normal, let it be human being, animal plants everything. It’s nature.”For Millennials, Nagma needs little introduction. However, younger viewers who may not have grown up watching 90s films may be unfamiliar with the actress and her contribution to Indian cinema during that era.Nagma made her acting debut opposite Salman Khan in ‘Baaghi’ and quickly established herself as a popular leading lady. She later appeared in films including ‘King Uncle’ with Shah Rukh Khan and ‘Suhaag’ alongside Akshay Kumar, among several others.Her career, however, extended well beyond Hindi cinema. Nagma worked extensively across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Bhojpuri films, building a substantial body of work in multiple Indian film industries.Among her Bhojpuri hits is the song ‘Lehnga Utha Dem Remote Se’, which featured her opposite Ravi Kishan and went on to become one of the popular songs associated with her Bhojpuri career.
