Stock Market Closing: Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty traded sharply higher on Monday, May 25, amid hopes of a potential US-Iran deal nearing completion. Analysts said valuations in the Indian market have eased but are yet to turn attractive. They remained cautious, pointing out that earlier reports of a possible US-Iran agreement had not materialised. Market experts also highlighted the recent rise in US bond yields as a major risk factor. For now, investors cheered the easing tensions in West Asia and the fall in crude oil prices below the $95-per-barrel level.
The BSE Sensex, after hitting an intraday high of 76,559.07, ended the session at 76,488.96, up 1073.61 points or 1.42 per cent. The NSE Nifty50 settled at 24,031.70, up 312.40 points or 1.32 per cent. During the day Nifty50 swung between 24,054.45 and 23,922.85. Sensex and Nifty opened in green today. The BSE Sensex started at 76,135.82, while the Nifty 50 opened at 23,940.25.
