Stock Market holidays in September 2026: Investors should note that the NSE and BSE will remain closed for trading on September 14, Monday, due to Ganesh Chaturthi. This will be the only scheduled equity-market trading holiday during September.
The holiday will be observed across the equity, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, NDS-RST, tri-party repo, commodity derivatives and EGR segments.
As per the NSE’s holiday calendar, other market holidays scheduled for the remainder of the year include Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, Dussehra on October 20, Diwali-Balipratipada on November 10, Prakash Gurpurb on November 24 and Christmas on December 25.

Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty rebounded on Friday after two days of losses and ended higher, tracking buying in blue-chip IT stocks and a rally in global markets.
The 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex gained 330.92 points, or 0.43 per cent, to close at 77,264.51. During the day, it jumped 424.38 points, or 0.55 per cent, to 77,357.97. The NSE Nifty rose 84.80 points, or 0.35 per cent, to close at 24,175.65. The Nifty Bank index, which tracks the movement of the country’s top 12 listed banks, closed 13.65 points, or 0.02 per cent, down at 57,496.30.
Market last week
The benchmark Nifty declined 0.31 per cent during the week to close at 24,175.65. The Nifty Bank index also ended lower, losing 0.46 per cent to settle at 57,496.30.
The Nifty Midcap 100 gained 0.52 per cent during the week and closed at 64,069.50. Meanwhile, the Nifty Smallcap 100 declined 0.51 per cent to end at 20,080.
