Stocks to BUY Today, August 18: The Indian stock market is expected to start on a weaker note on Tuesday (August 18), taking cues from Asian markets, while the GIFT Nifty traded flat.

As of 8:20 am IST, the GIFT Nifty traded flat, or 21.5 points, at 24,297. The GIFT Nifty is a pre-market indicator for the Nifty 50 and often signals whether the benchmark index is likely to open higher, lower or flat based on global market cues. (GIFT Nifty Today)

Ahead of the trading session, SEBI-registered research analyst Kunal Bothra has recommended a few stocks that could potentially generate gains for investors during Tuesday’s session.

Here are the top stock picks suggested by Kunal Bothra, along with their target prices and stop-loss levels:
According to Kunal Bothra, Kfin Technologies has a target price of Rs 1,010, with a stop-loss at Rs 950.
Kunal Bothra has recommended a buy on Tata Steel, with a target price of Rs 194 and a stop-loss at Rs 181.
Asian markets traded in negative territory on Tuesday (August 18), with major indices showing a broadly weak trend.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 traded over 1.5 per cent lower at 68,049, while South Korea’s KOSPI slipped 0.7 per cent to 6,923.87. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng also mirrored the trend, trading around 0.8 per cent lower at 25,278. China’s Shanghai Composite slipped 0.4 per cent to 3,967.23.

The equity market extended losses on Monday, August 17, with the Sensex falling for a second consecutive session and the broader Nifty declining for the fifth straight day. The key benchmark indices sharply recovered from their intraday lows despite selling pressure in IT, FMCG and telecom shares amid rising crude oil prices and persistent geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 281.09 points, or 0.36 per cent, to settle at 77,728.16. During the day, it dropped 555.5 points, or 0.71 per cent, to 77,453.75.

The 50-share NSE Nifty declined 78.35 points, or 0.32 per cent, to end at 24,287.65, extending its losing streak to the fifth consecutive session.
