Stocks to BUY Today, August 21: The Indian stock market is expected to start on a higher note on Friday (August 21), as indicated by GIFT Nifty.

As of 8:10 am IST, GIFT Nifty traded 0.1 per cent, or 23 points, higher at 24,320.5. GIFT Nifty is a pre-market indicator for the Nifty 50 and often signals whether the benchmark index is likely to open higher, lower or flat based on global market cues. (GIFT Nifty Today)

Ahead of the trading session, SEBI-registered research analyst Kunal Bothra has recommended a few stocks that could potentially deliver gains during Friday’s session.

According to Kunal Bothra, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone has a target price of Rs 1,740, with a stop-loss at Rs 1,665.

Kunal Bothra has recommended a buy on DLF, with a target price of Rs 710 and a stop-loss at Rs 665.

Asian Markets Today

Asian markets traded in mixed territory on Friday (August 21), with major indices showing a broadly mixed trend.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 traded 0.5 per cent lower at 65,963. South Korea’s KOSPI gained around 1 per cent to 6,910.53. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng traded around 0.6 per cent higher at 25,861, while China’s Shanghai Composite was flat at 3,900.20.

Stock Market on August 20

Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty rebounded on Thursday, tracking a recovery in global markets as easing US Treasury yields improved global risk sentiment. Fresh foreign fund inflows also added to market optimism during the trading session.

The 50-share NSE Nifty also bounced back after seven consecutive sessions of losses. It climbed 118.85 points to 24,198.55. The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 504.32 points to 77,416.16 after four consecutive sessions of decline.

The Nifty Bank index, which tracks the movement of the top 12 listed banks in the country, closed 256.15 points, or 0.45 per cent, higher at 57,495.90.
