Suzlon Energy Q1 Results: Stock falls 5% as margins narrow despite 22% revenue growth


Shares of Suzlon Energy Ltd. fell as much as 7% on Tuesday, July 28, in response to its June quarter results that were subdued across parameters on a year-on-year basis.

Suzlon Energy’s net profit dropped 6% during the quarter to ₹305 crore from ₹324 crore last year.

Revenue for the period stood at ₹3,829 crore, a growth of 22% from last year’s figure of ₹3,132 crore.

Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation (EBITDA) stood at ₹595 crore, nearly the same as last year’s figure of ₹599 crore, while margins narrowed by 350 basis points to 15.5% from 19% last year.

Revenue for the Renewable Energy Solutions business grew to ₹3,174 crore from ₹2,494 crore last year. Renewable Energy Asset Management Services revenue grew to ₹632 crore during the quarter from ₹584 crore last year. Foundry & Forgings business revenue during the quarter stood at ₹126 crore from ₹146 crore last year.

During the quarter, Suzlon’s overall deliveries stood at 506 MW, a growth of 14% from the same quarter last year, while commissioning more than doubled from last year to 269 MW.

At the end of the June quarter, Suzlon Energy’s cumulative order book at 6.1 GW, with 84% of the total orders coming from the PSU space and the Commercial & Industrial sector.

Share of the EPC business in Suzlon Energy’s overall topline increased from 22% last year to 32% at the end of this quarter, in-line with the company’s strategy.

“With the successful launch of the first FDRE-ready S175 wind turbine and manufacturing now scaled at our Bhuj facility, we are well prepared to meet future demand,” Ajay Kapur, the CEO of Suzlon Group was quoted as saying.

Suzlon Energy has also doubled its rotor blade manufacturing facility’s capacity in Jaisalmer to 1,260 MW from 630 MW by adding two additional manufacturing lines.

Shares of Suzlon Energy are trading 6.7% lower on Tuesday after the results announcement at ₹49.58. The stock has turned negative for 2026 after this decline.
