Tanmay Vekaria, who is popular for playing the character of Bagha in the longest running shows of Indian television, recently opened up about the physical challenges of the role. The actor revealed that he has been dealing with back pain while continuing to play the character with the same dedication.
Eduring Pain for playing Bagha
During an interview with TellyChakkar, Tanmay said, “After playing this role for so many years, my back hurts even when I stand straight. But I still love playing Bagha. Once I become the character, I don’t think about the pain or the movements I have to do. I just enjoy every moment. I come to the set happy, and there is always a fun atmosphere. I think that’s why we have been able to give viewers new and entertaining episodes.“On July 8th, Tanmay shared an emotional tribute for his late father, veteran Gujarati actor, director and theatre personality Arvind Vekaria. The actor posted a heartwarming video compiling special moments with his father and expressed how deeply he misses him.Sharing the video on social media, Tanmay wrote, “A loving father, a caring husband, my only teacher and a pure soul, keep showering ur blessings from the best place where u are, shall always love u and miss u dear papa.”Arvind Vekaria passed away on June 24, leaving behind a rich legacy in Gujarati theatre and cinema. His demise came as a huge loss to his family as well as the entertainment industry.Recently, while shooting for the show, Tanmay became emotional remembering his mother. He reportedly remembered his mother, who recently passed away. Unable to control his emotions, Tanmay broke down and started crying on the set.The shoot had to be halted immediately as everyone present watched the heartbreaking moment unfold. His mother was one of his biggest admirers and absolutely loved seeing him on screen as Bagha. The thought that she was no longer there to witness the audience’s love for his current storyline became too much for the actor to bear.During a podcast, Tanmay revealed that before playing the character of Bagha, he did many cameo roles in TMKOC, he said, “I reached out to the show’s creative director looking for work and was offered a small role as a police inspector in a three-day track. I had already appeared in a few cameo roles on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. While waiting near the lift on set, I met Sohil Bhai, who asked about the role I was doing and suggested that I should not take it. Instead, he introduced me to the character of Bagha and asked me to audition for it. I gave the audition and was selected. Since Dilip Joshi and I had worked together in theatre earlier, we already shared a good rapport, which helped create a natural chemistry on screen.”
