On a sequential basis, however, the company’s India crude steel production declined 6.4% from 6.22 million tonnes in the March quarter, while deliveries fell 16.5% from 6.19 million tonnes.
The automotive and special products business recorded around 0.9 million tonnes of deliveries during the quarter, while branded products and retail delivered about 1.7 million tonnes. Industrial products and projects contributed around 1.6 million tonnes.
Tata Steel also said gross merchandise value from its e-commerce platforms reached ₹2,200 crore during the quarter, up 61% from a year earlier.
International operations
In the Netherlands, liquid steel production stood at 1.55 million tonnes in the June quarter, down 8.8% YoY from 1.70 million tonnes and 4.9% lower than the 1.63 million tonnes recorded in the previous quarter.
Deliveries fell to 1.40 million tonnes from 1.50 million tonnes a year earlier and 1.70 million tonnes in the March quarter. The company attributed the decline partly to the shutdown of the Direct Sheet Plant in April and said trial runs are underway before full operations resume.
Tata Steel UK reported deliveries of 0.48 million tonnes during the quarter, compared with 0.60 million tonnes a year earlier and 0.52 million tonnes in the preceding quarter. The company said it continues to serve customers through the downstream processing of purchased substrates while work progresses on a 3-million-tonnes-per-annum electric arc furnace at Port Talbot.
In Thailand, saleable steel production remained unchanged year-on-year at 0.33 million tonnes, compared with 0.32 million tonnes in the previous quarter. Deliveries stood at 0.33 million tonnes, down from 0.34 million tonnes in both the year-ago and preceding quarters.
