The approvals cover a range of indigenous defence systems, including air defence missiles, anti-drone systems, anti-tank guided missiles, unmanned aerial systems and naval mines, benefiting several listed defence manufacturers.
Army approvals
For the Army, the DAC cleared the procurement of the AKASH TARANG Anti-UAV Electronic Warfare System, aiming to protect military assets against hostile drones. The programme is expected to benefit Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL), Apollo Micro Systems and Data Patterns.
The council also approved the procurement of Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (MPATGM) to strengthen anti-armour capabilities. Bharat Dynamics Ltd. (BDL) and BEL are expected to be key beneficiaries.
Another major clearance was for the Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM) system to bolster air defence against stand-off aerial threats, with BDL and BEL likely to participate in the programme.
The DAC also approved the acquisition of the Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS), with BDL and BEL expected to benefit.
In addition, the Army received approval for jet-based kamikaze drone systems, a segment in which BEL and Solar Industries India are seen as potential beneficiaries.
Navy approvals
For the Indian Navy, the DAC approved the procurement of Multi-Influence Ground Mines (MIGM), designed to restrict adversary naval manoeuvres. Apollo Micro Systems and BDL are expected to benefit from the programme.
The council also cleared the acquisition of Naval Shipborne Unmanned Aerial Systems (NSUAS) for maritime surveillance, with HAL and BEL emerging as likely beneficiaries.
Air Force Approvals
For the Indian Air Force, the DAC approved the procurement of Fixed-Wing High Altitude Pseudo Satellites (FW-HAPS), which will provide persistent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), telecommunications and remote sensing capabilities.
Companies expected to benefit from the programme include HAL, Data Patterns, BEL, Astra Microwave Products and Paras Defence and Space Technologies.
